In 2022, SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions is celebrating its 30th eye laser anniversary. The company is amongst the pioneers in corneal refractive surgery. The KERATOM is the first serial SCHWIND laser system and offers PRK treatment for myopia and myopic astigmatism. The first patient is treated in South Korea.

 

As of 1999 - SCHWIND exits business as diagnostic equipments supplier and focuses on laser vision correction. SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions GmbH & Co.KG replaces the previous company name Herbert Schwind GmbH & Co.KG. 2001 Excimer laser SCHWIND ESIRIS is launched. 

As of 2007 – The sixth SCHWIND laser generation is launched at ESCRS 2007 in Stockholm. SCHWIND AMARIS 500 rapidly acquires reputation as  „Gold“ standard amongst excimer lasers in the market and receives four awards for technological innovation in 2008.

Shinagawa LASIK Centre is Japans leading operator of eye centres and is among the clinics with the worldwide largest treatment volume at that time. About 3,800 eye are treated per week. A total of 12 AMARIS lasers  is installed between 2009 and 2010. 

SCHWIND AMARIS product family is built based on the new models SCHWIND AMARIS 750S and 500E. The number of AMARIS users around the world is continuously and dynamically rising.

SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS completes the AMARIS excimer laser portfolio. With an impressive 1050 Hz repetition rate and 7D eye tracking, the premium model acts as flagship of AMARIS product family and enjoys high demand. PresbyMAX Hybrid extends SCHWIND‘s field of presbyopia treatment types.

New SmartSurfACE treatment with combines the advantages of SCHWIND‘s proven TransPRK surface ablation with SmartPulse technology. TransPRK/SmartSurfACE becomes treatment of choice for many AMARIS users. More than 100 peer review articles have been published so far.
 

International User Meetings are part of SCHWIND DNA since 1997. Established for knowledge exchange and dialogue, the platform is highly appreciated by the user family, culminating in a record participation of 230  users in Singapore 2016. 

In line with continuous growth, the number of employees has increased. On the SCHWIND premises, an new, additional edifice was built to include Research & Development department as well as the new SCHWIND Showroom.

As of 2020 – SCHWIND ATOS femtosecond laser receives CE mark for lenticule extraction and flap creation. First users report excellent outcomes for both procedures. SCHWIND ATOS receives three awards for innovative strength.
 

SCHWIND has topped the milestone of the 2,000th installed laser system. The jubilee model, a SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS, is delivered to Prof. Sathish Srinivasan, Ayrshire Eye Clinic, Scotland. Two thirds of SCHWIND lasers that have been installed so far are marked with the brand name AMARIS.

SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions celebrates 30 years in corneal refractive surgery. SCHWIND family today includes more than 1,800 users worldwide, 40 distribution partners, and 160 employees.
