SCHWIND Foresight® Visual

What is SCHWIND Foresight®?

SCHWIND Foresight® is a unique, intuitive and sophisticated software solution to visualise the effect on the cornea of each individual refractive surgery treatment upon planning. Foresight creates a virtual replica of the individual patient‘s cornea. Based on it, surgeons can dry run surgery, reflect their planning and educate their patients about the planned ablation profile and the expected outcome.

Estimation of the post-operative cornea with respect to the individual refractive laser treatment

Very easy to use and to be integrated into your refractive surgery routine

Supports your patient education / counseling

Can help boost efficiency and economic potential of your clinic

Easily adaptable to your existing SCHWIND AMARIS® laser system*

* Please contact your local SCHWIND representative to know more about installation requirements.

How does SCHWIND Foresight® work?

The SCHWIND treatment planning data of the patient eye are transferred to the SCHWIND Foresight® software. Based on the tomographic data, Foresight creates a virtual replica of the individual patient’s cornea. The post-operative corneal shape is calculated and visualised then by mathematically subtracting the SCHWIND AMARIS® treatment profile from the virtual replica. The graphically user interface resembles common diagnostic devices and does not require any additional effort. With one click only, the virtual replica and the estimated corneal shape are presented.

SCHWIND Foresight is available for visualisation of the expected outcome for SCHWIND AMARIS® treatment plans that include data from SCHWIND MS-39 or SCHWIND SIRIUS / SIRIUS+ diagnostic devices.

I see great potential in Foresight becoming an important tool for the planning of laser surgeries in near future. I say this, not just because I was involved in the development of this program from the beginning but also because I am a high-volume refractive surgeon,  who is very much focused on getting precise outcomes for patients. Foresight enables the surgeons to visualise the post operative results by creating a virtual replica of the cornea based on the treatment planning data inputs. In my opinion, this is quite unique and will benefit both surgeons and patients. Going ahead, Foresight can transfigure the way refractive surgeries are performed and planned today.

Foresight, a cutting-edge simulation software, offers significant advantages in predicting outcomes of laser surgeries performed with the SCHWIND AMARIS excimer laser. Our observations indicate a remarkable co-relation between post-operative corneal simulations provided by SCHWIND Foresight and the actual AMARIS treatment outcomes. This robust predictive capability makes the initial version of Foresight an invaluable tool for anticipating the post-operative corneal shape during treatment planning. Its utility is particularly pronounced in complex cases where treatment outcomes are challenging to interpret. Foresight represents a perfect step towards precision medicine, enabling highly personalised treatment plans that optimise surgical results.
